What's up señoras and señores!!! Welcome back to my blog... you've been deeply missed since your last reading! Anyways, for this blog I'll be walking you guys through the amount of time spent editing, who was involved in the editing, and the additional filming that we've done (which we just finished filming). As I've probably mentioned for like the 8th time, I'm not really that involved when it comes to the whole editing aspect, so I don't know if I can write much about my personal experience about it, unlike Rebecca (who could probably write about it for hours).

Throughout the course of like 3 months, Rebecca has been doing most of the editing by herself and has gotten some feedback from me and from her photography teacher, Mrs. Perez. It's hard to give an exact estimate of how many hours Rebecca has been tweaking and editing the project for, but I'd probably put it between 10-15 hours in total (I really don't know if that's excessive but that's what I feel like it's worth). The second round of editing for our recent filming has been a lot easier for her, since we knew exactly what we needed to shoot and how easy it would be to edit later on. Rebecca's done SOOOOO much work with editing, and she truly deserves an award (or high marks on her Paper 1 instead 😉) for her constant time and effort. You might've noticed that I said we've finished filming, and pretty much Rebecca just needs to wrap up the editing and we'll be able to call it a day!

Rebecca often comes to me with her progress so far, and we discuss how it could be improved, what sort of transitions are needed, the type of font that would fit our theme, and how we can better edit the shots to match the atmosphere overall. I feel like the most difficult part was attempting to do a match cut with the shots of the doors opening/closing as we transition into the next scene (where the main character gets into her car). No matter how many times we went over it, there was still some sort of "gap" that didn't allow it to flow 100% smooth, but we're still quite satisfied with it. One of the most fun parts involved with editing - from my perspective at least - would be the credits. Since it was only Rebecca and I doing the filming, editing, and costuming along with other things, we just decided to make up the names of the cast and instead include it with the names of our pets! My bunnies don't have last names, so I just blurted out whatever last name came to my head and Rebecca simply included it in the film.

Alsoooooo, Rebecca and I finally arrived at the consensus that the title of the film would officially be named "Embers"! It fits sooooo much better than "Chasing Perfection" and the ending of our film opener perfectly matches with the title. I may have slightly burnt my finger tips when filming the ending... but it's all worth it! Although we slightly did rush the editing process in the second round, I think we did pretty good considering the time crunch. We honestly have a lot of things going on right now, with our other AICE exams and summer internships, but I guess that's just the challenges you expect to face in high school!
