🤠8. Mise - En - Scene : No Country for Old Men ðŸ¤
This is my ABSOLUTE favorite movie of all time. I'm a huge fan of suspense and movies that can keep me engaged constantly. The antagonist in this movie is so frightening just from his appearance alone, you'll literally get goosebumps from how.... interesting... his haircut is. There are just way too many things I love about this movie, and luckily I'll be able to discuss it with you all here!
Literally the scariest face I've ever seen in a movie. Chucky, Pennywise, and Jason Voorhees can't compete with how menacing the character Anton Chigurh looks throughout the entire film. I never thought I could be so scared of a psychopath through a screen. Every single aspect of this movie involving the setting, lighting, costume, and staging is perfect and blends seamlessly together.

Starting off with a banger, in the first two minutes of the movie, it starts off in an empty, yellow desert. The dusty, yellowish light brown uniform of the Sheriff blends in with the setting, however, the psychopath, Anton Chigurh, always wears black clothing with an ominous bowl-cut hairstyle, which represents a stark contrast of colors. While I cannot find a photo of this specific scene, there is a shot of the officer in the driver's seat and Chigurh in the back behind bars, but the lighting where Chigurh is appears to be dark shadow, leaving an ominous and suspenseful mood.
One of my favorite scenes in film start just three minutes into this movie, and gives a good glimpse of Anton's character and just how crazy he is. Both the officer and Chigurh are in a dimly lit police station alone with each other. The officer is making a phone call, while killer is out of focus, but can be seen moving in the background trying not to make a sound. Chigurh takes his handcuffs and chokes him, later body-slamming him into the ground. The camera follows the moves throughout the attack and shakes, demonstrating the chaos and uneasiness throughout the scene. As we can see in the photo below, the camera focuses on the psychopath's face, while the choking can be heard in the background. After the killing, the skid marks on the floor are shown in a clear view, demonstrating how the officer struggled. There is another interesting shot that shows the shoes of the characters, in which the officer has a light brown, rounded shoe, and Anton has a bloody, dark red pointed shoe, which could represent their personality and character.

Throughout the entire movie, the innocent people throughout the movie, along with the protagonist, wear light-colored and neutral clothes, while the psychopath wears black clothing through the entire movie. The protagonist in the movie, Llewelyn Moss, has a very rugged look, due to his long hair, light plaid shirt and jeans, and his mustache. This could represent his character to be loose and a rule-breaker, as we see later on into the movie that he steals a briefcase filled with millions of dollars, which ends up ruining his life.
