👩‍💻 24. Editing 👩‍💻

Welcome back my beautiful bloggersssss I hope you guys are doing well :) These past couple of weeks have been fairly busy with Spring Break coming up (as well as with the quarter and grades closing) but Rebecca and I have been hard at work for our project. So, as you guys can tell from the title of this blog, I'll be discussing our editing process through the ups and downs.

As I've mentioned before, I'm not quite experienced with complex editing platforms like Premier Pro, and I'm only familiar with iMovie, which means that Rebecca has the job of editing. Despite that fact, I still collaborate with her and offer my two cents or review the clips and figure out whether it's missing something or the clips need to be shortened, lengthened, etc. I've also had to find songs or audios for our film opener that will fit our vibe and sense of chaos (which is SUPER freaking hard to find... I've been listening to hundreds of copyright-free songs and so far I've only found one that might fit). I'd say the most annoying part is not being able to use songs that Rebecca and I know, especially for songs that would perfectly fit the mood and atmosphere present in our film.

Unfortunately, I don't know much of the logistics regarding the video effects and transitions, but so far we've only used simple cuts. There is one part where we transition our character from her dark, moody bedroom into her messy, disorganized bathroom (it's one of my favorite parts). Basically, as our main character walks past the camera, her sweater takes up most of the space, and the camera transitions into the bathroom as it moves away from the black. It sounds kinda boring now that I'm typing it but I promise it's cool (and maybe you'll get a sneak peek sometime soon).

During editing, there were very few problems or issues, it was mostly just things we needed to tweak (and Rebecca almost deleted/lost our project by accident but I'll explain that more in depth when Rebecca can tell me the whole story because I forgot how it happened). Well I'm being slightly overdramatic because apparently Rebecca forgot to save her progress and closed her laptop and was worried that she had lost it forever (I've told her multiple times to keep a copy just in case we manage to lose it but eh its fine). But not to worry! Luckily she went to her trusty photography teacher Mrs. Perez and was able to find the hidden file so yay! Some other minor problems were trying to blend the uneven colors between each clip and having to change the coloring and saturation, but again it's really not a big issue. Everything's been going smoothly for the most part (knock on wood) and hopefully nothing horrible happens (knock on wood again).
