🎶 I FINALLY FOUND THE PERFECT SONG FOR OUR PROJECT!!!!!! 🎶
If you can't tell by the enthusiastic title, I'm suuuuper excited and happy that I've finally landed on a satisfactory song, because as you all know I'm a very picky person. But yeah I can't wait for you guys to hear the process and how I finally chose this song and I'm honestly really proud of myself for choosing this specific song lol.
Soooooo originally when we were consulting Rebecca's photography teacher, she recommended that I try out this website that she uses for her personal film project - universalproductionmusic.com - and she gave me access to her account so we'd be able to find some suitable music. Luckily she's been helping us tweak some things and has offered us advice on how we can improve our editing, so it's nice to have a helping hand on such a big project that Rebecca and I really want to do well on.
I spent (what felt like) HOURSSSS scrolling through the different music categories, moods, playlists, and albums to try and find but it was truly so time consuming and... the music sounded a little bit too goofy and unsuitable for me. It mostly felt like I was scrolling through music for TV or YouTube ads and I didn't really like it. The only song I was able to find was like this Salsa type song that kinda sorta fit the vibe, but it just didn't feel right (and as a Hispanic I love my Latino-style music hehe).
However, one day in my U.S. History class - Mr. Doyle (he is the most passionate, caring, and wonderful teacher I've ever had) - we were learning about the 1950's and 60's and about the rising popularity of African American artists in the white mainstream media. My teacher began playing some examples of the music and the "Golden Age" of television, which is when he showed the iconic song "Come See About Me" by the Supremes. I've heard of Diana Ross before, but I don't ever really listen to old-timey music, but there was something really interesting about this song that just pulled me in. Immediately upon listening to it, I wrote down a text message to myself on my computer of the name of the song and the artist:
So once I got tired of going through the music on the Universal Production music, I just headed to Youtube and scrolled through all sorts of covers of songs from my playlist that I thought might fit the vibe of our project, but I didn't really have any sort of luck.
