Hey guys!!!! Welcome back - I'm finally ready to update you guys on what Rebecca and I have decided to include for the remaining 40-ish or more seconds for our film (as of right now, we only have like a 1:04 minutes in our film, so we need to make sure we meet the necessary length and not go under the requirements).
So once Rebecca and I met up, we pretty much immediately started brainstorming some interesting and funny ideas to include that might be slightly chaotic, but eh, it's all worth it for a good grade, right?
Interestingly enough, we've planned out some longer shots that showcase her driving, heading to work, and ending back in her room doing some homework and burning out her candle (obviously to represent that she's burnt out and kinda like in 'embers'... I still don't know if we're settling on that title or "Chasing Perfection" lol)
We didn't really want to make a storyboard since we felt it would kinda waste a lot of valuable time that we have left to finish this project strong with such a short time frame left (which is like a week). Our personal schedules have been pretty busy lately, so we carefully need to plan everything out, and we just created a sticky note and wrote down all the things we need to film and include in our film:
I'm not sure why the text isn't that clear but I'll just write down all the things right below here:
1st one - follow through with the sameish height and just include a shot of the car door opening from the same angle. Does not show her getting into the car
2nd one - right after she gets into the car, Turn on the car using the button to start (close up)
3rd - Putting the car into reverse gear (close up)
2 possibilities for 4th:
- right after she goes into reverse gear, it switches to the shot of behind the car (bumper) reversing and getting closer to the camera
- OR her reversing into trash can and just driving away rapidly
5th- Right after she hits the trashcan, the music stops for a few seconds and then continues on after the shot ends
6th - ordinary short clips of driving montage, maybe her applying some lipstick or lipgloss while waiting at a red light at the traffic light at 184th, have her turn left or right in some of them, maybe her hitting the horn for somebody to go right after she’s applying the lipgloss
Possibly have her turn into the parking lot for work and parking horribly (her starting to turn her steering wheel into the parking space where her tires are in between the parking spaces), laying her head on the horn for a couple second
7th-ish: rough transition of her at work looking super bored, cleaning the counters, taking calls and looking bleh, resting her face on her hands in a bored way
Transition to her doing the same position of her resting her face on her hands at her desk and staring at her computer screen,
a diagonal mid shot and it shows the back of her head as she’s typing on her computer and she has the candle burning
And then when she’s done typing on the computer taking notes in notebook, she burns out the candle with her fingers
And it goes back into the mid shot and it shows her computer and candle burning
I wrote it super casually just because we were like spitting out ideas right there and then, but you guys will see our wonderful vision. Maybe you noticed the ideas for the 4th scene, which involves me crashing into my trashcan while reversing. It might seem a little bit extreme (and slightly reckless) but I feel like it would be pretty funny to include and might be surprising for the audience, especially since we're using my personal car... but oh well 😃 lol I don't think I mind that much, especially since I accidentally bumped butts with another car while I was reversing (thankfully nothing happened to my car or the other person's car, but I was literally balling my eyes out the entire day because I was so stressed out...). I've also accidentally crashed into my trashcan when reversing out of my driveway when I was leaving for school, so it wouldn't really be the first time.
I PROMISE I'M NOT A BAD DRIVER - I'M JUST A LITTLE CLUMSY
Anyways, here's how our filming went today!
Definitely an interesting and chaotic day nonetheless...
This was our third day shooting and luckily our very last one! We needed to get everything wrapped up so that it wouldn't interfere with our schedules, homework, and community service. It took about like 5-ish hours and we did a lotttt of driving and filmed at like 4 or 5 locations. And we filmed some pretty funny videos of me reversing into Rebecca's neighbor's trash can (don't worry, he doesn't live there anymore and the house is completely vacant).
Rebecca and I decided that we're still not going to include any sort of talking in the film, and instead just have the music playing - except for the part where I reverse into the trash can. When Rebecca attempted to include the diegetic sounds and foley sounds into the film, it wasn't really that noticeable since it blending in with the music playing. We needed to reshoot a few things during that day, but luckily we don't need any more filming days so that's pretty nice.
Once Rebecca and I finished filming our last shot, it was already 9:05 PM, and we did a celebratory high five (and then I had to rush straight home because it was incredibly dark outside and my mom was getting worried).
