🕵️ 34. Who Would the Ideal Actress Be? 🕵️

 

        Hey guys! Welcome back, I hope you had a nice and long rest since you've last visited my blogs! Anyways enough with the chatter... let's dive straight in. So, I really wouldn't consider myself an ideal actor in any sort of way, and there's several reasons for that. First off, I laugh WAYYY too much and I can't take myself seriously when filming (if only you could see the absurd amount of bloopers we had). I also just don't see myself as an actor. I've never really been a part of the spotlight and I hate being the center of attention to be honest, but I was willing to be in the spotlight for this role - especially if it's worth passing my exams! I also feel like my persona doesn't match the main character that well. While I can be quite a messy teenager that gets anxious and burnt out, I don't connect with my character intensely (if that makes sense). 

        So, the grand question of today's blog is: who would replace me in the film opener for "Embers" if we could choose any actors? Ideally, I do see this actor being quite young - obviously in their teens or early twenties. If I'm being honest, the whole "messy" character and persona reminds me a lot of some characters from the HBO show "Euphoria" and "Shameless" from Showtime (the U.S. version, so patriotic of me!). Basically, the protagonist of the show, Rue (played by Zendaya), is a teenage girl battling a drug addiction that navigates through her friendships and relationships. Rue is portrayed as a "junkie" teen and has a similar portrayal to our main character in "Embers", as they're both quite messy, disorganized, and dress alike. In "Shameless", the protagonist Fiona (played by Emmy Possum) is another character that lives her life in disorder and chaos in the South Side of Chicago. While both of these actors would be a little bit too old to play the main character in "Embers", there are a few members in these shows that I would use instead.

      

      With Rue's sister in Euphoria (the young girl above crying, actress Storm Reid), she seems a lot more like a teenager and is also a PHENOMENAL actress. She faces the ups and downs of being the younger sister of a drug addict and often encounters herself in some depressing situations. While her persona isn't really messy, I feel like she would definitely be able to better portray the character's emotions and inner thoughts way better than I can. Reid has been involved in the industry since 2012, and she obviously has years of experience that she can apply to the role in "Embers". She has also earned four nominations for several awards, according to imdb.com. She certainly has the perfect credentials and potential to do amazing in this role, but one can dream!

        I could genuinely list dozens upon dozens of actors (Joey King, Jenna Ortega, Olivia Rodrigo, Sadie Sink just to name a few) that would do amazing as the main character for our film opener, because I honestly believe that any credible actress could do 20 times better than me. I'm not being pessimistic by the way! I'm just being realistic. I know that this film opener could've been a lot better if I was a great actress, but then again, this was my first time filming something this serious, so obviously I won't be perfect or anything like that. But I do have to give myself credit for being dedicated and sticking to the role as best as I could!
