π 35. What if "Embers" Became a Full Movie?! π
While Rebecca and I might've discussed it a few times, we never really spoke in depth about what the rest of our film would consist of. However, with me being the classic over thinker, OF COURSE I've stayed up many nights thinking about what else would occur in the rest of the film. Get ready to dive into some wonderful brainstorming with me!
The way that Rebecca and I sort of envision the film after the first two minutes would obviously portray our main character struggling to keep up with her daily challenges and her mental health. However, I think it would be quite interesting to involve another character into the film that she secretly envies from the shadows and how they seem like they perfectly have their life together. This sort of parallelism would allow for Rebecca and I to add some extreme contrasts and would encourage us to give further thought into how we can represent their polar opposite personas. For example, in the beginning of our film, our character is surrounded by hues of purples and blues, and her alarm clock is a bright and furious red-ruby color. I feel like this red-ruby color from the clock could play into her rival's "aura" or atmosphere, as the alarm clock sort of evokes a frustrated mood within her (which can be seen when she slams down her alarm clock).

As for the length and production of the movie, Rebecca and I would need a huuuuuuge budget, enough time, lots of equipment, and other actors/cast. Since movies are usually somewhere at the 90-minute mark, Rebecca would certainly have to spend thousands of hours editing (if we didn't end up getting other editors). Not only that, but I feel like the equipment that we used for our film opener would not have the capacity to capture an entire movie... considering the fact that we used an iPhone 14 and a MacBook to create this film, along with flimsy lighting. The way that I think about our full film, at least, would be sort of like an indie one. I can't really imagine a huge production or super fancy and professional sets for a movie like this. Not only that, but as high schoolers, Rebecca and I barely even had a budget to begin with, and creating a 90-minute film would require a lottttt of money that we don't have.
Additionally, having a large cast for a film would greatly extend the time taken to create this film. Hypothetically, if we were still in high school or have just begun college, the truth is that we wouldn't really have a whole lot of time that we would be able to dedicate to this film. In the beginning of the project of our film opener, we quickly realized that working as a duo would be a lot easier instead of involving a large cast of actors, since it can be difficult to arrange schedules that will work for everyone. I often heard that this problem arose in my fellow classmates' projects, as their groups involved quite a large cast. I get suuuuper stressed out or disappointed when my plans don't go as I expected (but that's also because I always set high expectations... whoops), so I feel like I would just hate to have a full-length movie in general. Sure, it might be interesting, but that's a big no-no for me. Plus, I know for a fact that Rebecca will want to work on other film projects at the same time, and things would also become overwhelming for her as well.

But yeah, if a director ever gave me the opportunity to have "Embers" be a full-blown movie, I'd probably tell him "hell no" and just walk away. Or maybe just let them take the idea and create their own concept (and give me a fat paycheck, since it was my idea), but I'd rather not deal with the whole load of creating a movie. It just seems like wayyyyyy too much and I don't see myself involved in the film industry lol.
